Marie Assioti began working at Adelaide Casino at the age of 19 years old and has been within the company ever since. Her current role is the Gaming Operations Shift Manager, where she oversees gaming operations including Table Games and Gaming Machines.
What do you enjoy most about your current role?
There is never a dull moment and this keeps the job interesting!
What challenges do you face in your role? What do you think people should know before they apply for a job like this?
There are several challenges including customer and staff issues, retaining game integrity and ensuring procedures are observed and adhered to.
People should know that you could be required in several locations at the same time. ‘Spot Fires’ occur on a regular basis and funnily enough they seem to happen simultaneously!
What do you enjoy about working at SKYCITY?
I enjoy working in the hospitality industry as you get to meet so many customers from vast backgrounds including celebrities! A highlight was meeting Whoopi Goldberg several years ago. The people who work at SKYCITY are a great bunch and there is a real team environment within the gaming department.

The fact that SKYCITY offer staff the opportunity to undertake nationally recognised courses is a great benefit. One that I have enjoyed and am very grateful for.
