What other roles have you held at SKYCITY?
Table Games Dealer, Marketing Administrator, Marketing Assistant (across a range of teams including Restaurants & Bars, Hotels, Sky Tower & Tourism and Gaming), Marketing Co-ordinator
How long (in total) have you worked at SKYCITY?
7 years
Can you briefly describe your current role?
I currently help market our Table Games offering with my focus being on the Poker Room, Baccarat Room, EIGHT and social media for the Gaming related pages. This includes running promotions, advertising the casino brand and communicating and engaging with our customers.
What do you enjoy most about your current role?
I’m really passionate about Table Games so work doesn’t really feel like work which is a great feeling to have. I also work under some fantastic managers. I can’t fit into a paragraph just how great they are but they create a fantastic work environment.
What sorts of challenges do you encounter?
I think being a responsible host is extremely important. Here at SKYCITY, I think we set the benchmark for what host responsibility looks like for a casino and it’s vital we maintain those standards.
What did you do before you joined SKYCITY?
I was studying in university and I also did a bit of part time work as a waiter at a nearby café.
What do you enjoy about working at SKYCITY?
I really enjoy the family feel of the place. If you didn’t know any better, SKYCITY might seem from the outside like any other big corporate company but you’re really looked after here and you’re more than just another employee. Every person matters at SKYCITY, whether you’re the CEO or a humble cleaner. Everyone plays a crucial part.
What would you say to anyone considering joining your team or applying for a job like yours?
A desire to understand the customer journey and how you can add value to that journey is critical. I think in this day and age, it’s also pretty important to be adept and agile as a marketer.
Which of SKYCITY’s employee benefit(s) do you enjoy most?
The dry cleaning! It’s so easy, great level of service and such good value. I want to give a shout out to 24/7, our staff restaurant as well. They’ve really upped their game in the past 12 months and I’ve got a particular fondness for their sushi and salads.
Where were you born/raised and how long have you lived in Auckland?
I was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia but I moved to Auckland when I was pretty young so I’ve been here 20+ years.
What do you do outside of work?
I’m really into my e-sports but I recognise it’s also important to step outside the house so I usually gym 3 times a week, bit of football on the weekends and my husky gets a fair bit of love too.
