SKYCITY’s Business Development Manager – International, Danielle Davies, was recently named Young TEC’s Rising Star, receiving the accolade at the YoungTEC Awards. The awards were held at the Tourism Export Council’s Christmas Symposium on 5 December.
The Rising Star Award recognises the efforts and contribution to the development of New Zealand’s tourism industry by a YoungTEC member who has some experience working in the tourism and/or hospitality industry.
“I feel very lucky to work at SKYCITY with many inspiring and supportive managers who encourage and celebrate our individual success. I have been given many opportunities to develop professionally over my employment which I have been so grateful for; to win this award was a real testament to how far I have come since I started in Tourism and to those that have helped and supported along the way,” says Danielle.
The YoungTEC award follows Danielle also being named the Outstanding Young Hotel Executive at the 2018 New Zealand Hotel Industry Awards in June.
Brad Burnett, General Manager Sky Tower and Hotels, is proud of Danielle’s achievement and fast growth over her time at SKYCITY.
“We are so proud of Danielle and this acknowledgement of the incredible work she does at SKYCITY. This has been a stellar year for Danielle, having also collected the Hotel Industry Outstanding Young Hotel Executive of the Year at the Hotel Industry Awards earlier this year. A very well deserved accolade for her dedication, hard work, and passion for this industry,” says Burnett.
YoungTEC Chair Nicole Botting says the finalists were all incredibly strong contenders.
“Danielle is the epitome of a rising star, she goes above and beyond in both her role and in the support of the New Zealand tourism industry. We are proud to have her as a member of YoungTEC , and now as our 2019 Rising Star award winner.”
Danielle started at SKCITY in 2015 as a Business Development Executive and was promoted in 2017 to her current role working for SKYCITY’s two Auckland Hotels and the iconic Sky Tower.
