Last week, we held a Health and Safety ‘Fight the fire’ challenge event at our 24/7 employee restaurant, SkyCity Auckland.
Wearing heavy fire fighting suits Eddy Howell, from Health & Safety, supported by Coco Cui from Marketing, were on hand to educate staff about fire safety and give them the chance to put out a fire with a simulation fire extinguisher. The aim of the event was to educate staff to identify key fire risks within the building which usually include the kitchen area and sources for electrics or heating. Staff learned about what elements work together to ignite and sustain a fire, and how to pull the pin on a fire extinguisher under pressure, which can be quite challenging.
