What does your current role entail?

Although every day is a little bit different an average day would include managing the day to day operations of a security shift, managing and responding to security incidents within the complex, emergency management, assisting with training and development of new and existing staff members.

What do you enjoy most about your current role?

It’s very satisfying knowing that your work in an investigation, or your team’s quick response has led to a positive outcome for a person or the business.

What challenges do you face in your role? What do you think people should know before they apply for a job like this?

With so many aspects to the role, it can be very challenging to handle them simultaneously while still achieving a positive outcome. Ensuring correct time management and a high level of communication is vital to the role.

What qualifications do you have? Are they required for your role?

RSA, Senior First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation all of which are required for the role. I have also completed a Cert II in Security Operations which was a minimum requirement to obtain my Security License prior to SkyCity. However, neither of these are a requirement for my current role, with SkyCity providing extensive and ongoing training.

Your career experience prior to SkyCity:

Believe it or not I was a landscaper/concreter in the family business for three years. Prior to that and during high school I worked in a cinema projection room. I also worked for a short time as a crowd controller at festivals, nightclubs and in gaming rooms.

What do you enjoy about working at SkyCity?

Working for such a progressive company that also has a genuine care for its employees.
