We've recently welcomed our new General Manager People Operations, Sarah Caunter, to SkyCity.
Sarah is responsible for leading our New Zealand People & Culture operations teams ensuring successful implementations of P&C activities and programmes in Auckland, Hamilton and Queenstown. She also plays an active role in our Auckland leadership team by contributing to business planning and decision-making.
We spoke to Sarah to hear how she’s finding her new role.
What are you enjoying most about your new role?
The people – everyone has been very welcoming and incredibly helpful, I have to give a shout out here to the People & Culture team in particular for their patience and support. I’m also learning a huge amount about the business very quickly which is really interesting.
What are you most excited about doing in your new role at SkyCity?
I’m looking forward to working closely with all the talented teams across the New Zealand business and on leading and implementing the people strategy with these teams to support the SkyCity vision. We already have in place some great people practices, and there’s some very exciting projects to come.
Can you tell us a bit about your background?
I spent the last nine years as General Manager Human Resources for the Antares Restaurant Group (Burger King NZ), where I led the HR, IR, Communications, Remuneration, Training and the Health and Safety functions for the group. Prior to this, I held senior HR roles with Toll New Zealand (now KiwiRail) and Placemakers. I also spent a short time at SkyCity in 2003 when I first arrived in New Zealand, so it’s been nice returning and seeing all the changes that have happened since then!
