Meet Kelvery, our new Employee Support Advisor at SkyCity Auckland. As part of our CONNECT team, she will be providing support and guidance to employees who may experience issues at work and/or at home. Now a few weeks into her role, we caught up with her to see how she’s going and also to find out what she did before joining the SkyCity family!
What are you enjoying most about your new role?
What I enjoy most about my new role is meeting people every day from diverse cultures. Everyone at SkyCity is super friendly and very accommodating. I personally find SkyCity to be an enjoyable and positive environment to be in.
What are you most excited about doing in your new role at Sky City?
My predecessors have done an amazing job with CONNECT for the past eight years. I am excited and privileged to be continuing their CONNECT services and want to ensure that the services delivered reflect the needs and aspiration and diversity of all SkyCity employees.
I am also excited to increase the visibility of the CONNECT team and the up and coming projects.
Can you tell us a bit about your background?
I spent the last three years working for The Department of Corrections as an Educational Tutor at Mt Eden Correctional Facility where I facilitated an on-line learning programme, a youth employability programme, NCEA studies programme and co-ordinated work ready licence programmes. Prior to working at SkyCity, I worked as Bail Support Officer where my role was to assist men and women who were on bail and help them reintegrate back into their communities.
Prior to this I worked for a PTE establishment BEST Training, offering pastoral care to students. I also lived in rural Japan for three years teaching English. I am a big rugby fan, so if anyone wants to watch, talk rugby, feel free to let me know!
