We’ve caught up with Lynsey, our new Learning Delivery Consultant who joined us at SkyCity Auckland in September during lockdown and because of this, she says that ‘she’s so new that ‘I haven’t been to my desk or seen our wider precinct yet!’ Welcome to the SkyCity whānau Lysney and we look forward to greeting you in person!
What was your role prior to working at SkyCity?
Before Skycity I was a self-employed Learning Consultant, working short to medium length contracts over the last 8 years. I’ve worked in a variety of sectors including Finance, Transport and Retail. Prior to my life as a contractor, I was a Learning Manager at Barclays Wealth in the UK.
What are you looking forward to when you’re able to work from the office?
The coffee machine on Level 11 - I hear it’s fab! I’m also looking forward to spending time with my new colleagues in the Learning & Development team and then getting out amongst all the teams to learn how I can best support them with their learning.
How do you manage your wellbeing and achieve work/life balance?
I like to plan ahead and ensure that I prioritise my time for work, whānau, and myself. When I spot the signs of stress or fatigue then I take action - I’m currently trying to increase my flexibility and mindfulness, so I am practicing 30 days of Yoga on YouTube. I’m currently on Day 15, and it’s really helping - I highly recommend it! 😊
