Meet Marcus, our new Head of Host Responsibility at SkyCity. We caught up with him to see how he’s going, read more below.
What are you enjoying the most about your role and working at SkyCity?
SkyCity’s Host Responsibility programme is world leading and there’s still opportunity to make it even better which is exciting for me, especially given how critical Host Responsibility is for the business as a whole. I’m loving the energy at SkyCity around the various sites, there’s a unique buzz around the place.
What have you found at SkyCity that makes it different from other workplaces?
SkyCity is doing a great job when it comes to culture. The team genuinely look, talk and act like they enjoy what they do, which is so important given how long you spend at work. Most people I’ve met have been here for more years than I’ve been here in days.
What was your role prior to joining SkyCity?
I was CEO at the ASB Classic & Tennis Auckland (and yes Serena Williams is much nicer in person than she comes across in the media!)
How do you manage your Wellbeing and work/life balance?
I have two young boys (7 & 9) and I want to spend time with them before they realise, I’m not funny or cool. To get that work/life balance I start work early and try to get home in time to hang out with the family. I’m also a big believer that physical health and mental health go hand in hand, so I try to squeeze in some exercise every day.
