What are you enjoying the most about your role and working at SkyCity?
The new opportunity and challenges it has brought me. Also, the core values that it offers. One team one dream!
What have you found at SkyCity that makes it different from other workplaces?
The feeling of being part of a larger community rather than just a singular ‘family’ which comes from working for smaller independents.
What does SkyCity’s Rainbow Tick accreditation mean to you?
It makes you proud to be part of a company and a piece of a jigsaw in a corporation that values such diversity. It allows me to feel safe enough to bring out my alter ego the ‘Dancing Bear’.
What was your role prior to joining SkyCity?
Restaurant manager at GoGo Daddy (it’s a Thai canteen not a gay bar which a lot of taxi drivers used to think!)
How do you manage your wellbeing and work/life balance?
With great difficulty! When you have a large team and run a restaurant that can do 1000 covers a day, it can be hard sometimes to shut off. You must make the effort though! It’s hard to find the time to bake scones and build Lego sometimes but you just must make sure you allow yourself some ‘me’ time and work on personal time management. Tequila (in moderation of course) and the support of Kelvery from connect and Kate from HR is a big help too.
